History, Identity, and Sports.
Football has an incredible way of opening doors into places and stories you might never otherwise discover. A simple club crest or national badge can lead you to an ancient civilisation, a forgotten kingdom, a famous battle, a local legend or an industry that shaped an entire city. That's what #GetTheBadgeIn is all about.
Every badge has a story. Sometimes it's obvious. More often it's hidden in plain sight. A lion, a ship, a castle or a bird might have been chosen hundreds of years ago for reasons that have long since been forgotten. I enjoy digging into those stories and finding out why they matter. Along the way, I've found myself learning just as much about history, geography and culture as I have about football.
The idea isn't to become an expert on every club or country. It's to use football as a starting point for exploring the world and understanding how people, places and events have shaped the identities we still see today. Whether it's Viking explorers, Roman frontiers, medieval trade routes, industrial revolutions or independence movements, there's usually far more behind a badge than first meets the eye.
If you're a football fan, a history enthusiast or simply someone who enjoys learning something new, I hope you'll find something of interest.
And if I've got something wrong, missed an important detail or you've got a story that deserves telling, please get in touch. I'm always keen to learn a little more.
